Applying for nursing in the UK as an international student is a structured process involving both academic and legal steps. In 2026, the process remains competitive due to high demand, but streamlined for those who meet the rigorous English and health standards.


Step 1: Choose Your Entry Level


The application route depends on your current qualifications:
Undergraduate (BSc Nursing):  For those with no prior nursing degree. 

Apply via UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).


Postgraduate (MSc Nursing - Pre-registration):

 For those with a degree in a different subject who want to switch to nursing. Apply via UCAS or Directly to the university.


BSc Nursing (Top-Up): 

For international nurses who have a diploma and want to upgrade to a UK-equivalent degree. Apply Directly to the university.

Step 2: 

Meet the Academic & English Requirements


UK universities have strict entry barriers for nursing to ensure patient safety.


Academic:

12th-grade (High School) completion with high marks in Biology/Chemistry.

For Master's, a 2:1 or higher in a health-related degree.


English Proficiency: 

This is non-negotiable.


IELTS Academic:
